I had the pleasure of speaking with our friend John Nolte of Breitbart.com about the phenomenon of Trump and various GOP consultants attacking not Trump but his supporter. We discuss why this is the tactic, the impact of Trump on the campaigns so far, what the conservative grassroots can expect, and how important immigration issues are to the future of the country.

John notes Trump is his 5th choice for president but he’s appalled at the attacks on his supporters. His main concern, he stresses, is the willingness of what he calls the ‘GOP Smart Set’ to malign 25% of the GOP base. His explanation of how this damages the whole of the conservative cause is valuable.

We all saw the same smear attacks and efforts to destroy Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign. It’s happening again, but now the establishment is faced with a man who cannot be financially ruined, and has enough resources and is well-known enough that he can, and has been, surviving the pathetic Shock and Awe efforts to destroy him.

No matter what you think of Trump, watching the system respond to him is a valuable reminder of how anyone from outside the establishment cabal is seen by the machine as presenting a dramatic threat to the status quo. Now why would that be? I’m also pleased with how Trump’s refusal to be politically correct is challenging the rest of the GOP field. All of that is a good thing, as we are learning more every day about who has the stuff to compete, who is being honest with us, and who can do well in the arena.

I hope you enjoy the interview and I look forward to you reading your comments.

Ruthless political climate. I recall it was so for Reagan. Brutal.. They will all bend over before it is all over and the fat lady (who has been on a diet for the last six years), sings! Here is to fat lady!!!

Tammy, I am with you on what you are feeling with Donald Trump. Enjoyed the entire podcast and the segment with John. You cannot deny some excitement and a sense of hope with a lot of what Trump is saying. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Republicans have disappointed us and sold their souls as 99.9 % of politicians. Maybe its time for something/someone different.
